What Foods To Bring
IDEAS of FOOD:
You have the use of a 6 burner LPG GAS BBQ plus wok burner, if you have never used a BBQ don't be worried its no different than using a gas or electric stove at home, very easy and safe to use but outdoor use. If you are unsure, please ask management to show you.
Items and ideas that may help you decide on what to bring.
Breakfast:
Porridge or Cereal, (using long life milk or fresh
milk) Toast or muffins, crumpets, croissants with jams, honey, Vegemite, peanut
butter, Toast with cinnamon and sugar, Fresh Fruit compost (Yogurt & honey)
Bacon, Sausages,
egg, baked beans, mushrooms, cheese, tomatoes. Ham and eggs on toast, Scrambled
eggs, Egg in the window or French toast, Pancakes (bought item could be shaking
pancake mix or premixed pancake powder), Raisin toast.
This is just a few ideas and many of these can be precut, premixed and placed into a tight lidded container before leaving your home, saving on prepping time at your camp site, saving time on cleaning up and people having to miss time with everyone on enjoying the farm.
Morning & Afternoon tea or (big groups Happy Hour): Cakes, Pikelets cooked on the BBQ with jam & can cream, Mixed Meat & Cheese Fruit Platter, Asst Dips & crackers, asst chips, Muesli bar.
Happy Hour explained: In large group bookings, all tents can share the cooking or prepping eg: Someone cooked the pikelets another preppers the cheese platters and so on, all get?s placed on one table like a buffet and everyone share, it is also very cost effective or each tent brings a plate of food or cake and all goes onto one table so everyone can do a bit of socializing.
Lunch: Asst sandwiches, cheese & fruit platters, BBQ eg: meat, vegetables, fruit on skewer, meat or fish burgers, chicken & salad, hot dogs. Cheese with fillings melts on the BBQ (just like a toasted sandwich.)
Dinner: BBQ, Asst meats, chicken or fish, meats & vegies on skewer, hamburgers, Stews, Alfredo, rice, noodles & assorted salad's many things can be cooked on the wok burner eg: stir fry's, chow mein, soups etc.
These BBQ?s have the capacity to bake or roast "if you are game?: please ask staff for appropriate baking dish which we can supply, but don't forget anything that is used you will need to wash up & return. Or you can purchase aluminum foil throw-away trays.
Deserts: Cakes, fruit pudding, custard, canned cream, canned fruits, jelly cups etc.
Supper: Popcorn, marsh mellows, chips, lollies. (These can be consumed around the fire pit, (when there is No Fire Bans.)
Beverages: Hot coffee, tea, chocolate, soft drink (either cans or plastic bottles, juices, cordial, long life milk or powdered or fresh milk.
Alcohol: You can consume alcohol, beer, wine, spirits etc however please watch glass breakages if you do have a break of glass please let us know as stock (animals eat from the ground) and has to be cleaned up carefully, all alcohol beverages are to be consumed around your camp site not around the rest of the property if in glass and deposited in the bins supplied.
NO glass near Water Dams at any time Please be aware there are other campers and children on the grounds, we encourage everyone to have a great day/night however please keep your alcohol consumption to a respectful and responsible level that is including noise and music, loud conversations. After 10-30pm is classified as noise limited restrictions, staff will do their rounds. However, if all tents are booked by a large group regulations can be discussed as you may have booked entertainment and or security.
Must
bring: Sugar or
sweetener, coffee, tea, powdered chocolate, powdered milk or long life / fresh
milk, condensed milk, salt & pepper, spices, condiments / sauces (BBQ,
tomato, mayo etc), butter, oil. Zip lock bags, Cling wrap, silver foil, baking
paper (depending on what types of food you decide to cook, and or containers
with lids if you want to take foods home.
Any
extra containers or cups/ plates you may wish to bring on your stay please "No
GLASS?
Please Note: Please be aware bookings in Autumn and Winter, Snow is always on the radar on the farm and can happen without any notice. Regarding any food items you may bring, please be aware snow may prevent you from leaving and your stay may be extended for a few extra days until snow melts for safety with driving, so please bring a few extra meals for each person. Food in tins, dried or cryovac meats are a good option. An extended stay due to large snow falls will incur no extra charge. You will have the offer to use the office phone to ring a family member, or your work to let them know you are snowed in and are unable to leave the accommodation until it is safe to travel. We make sure there is always this option so no one worries about your non return from you trip.
Esky / Cooler a lid with rubber is a good idea as ants can make their way
into eskies without rubber seal. (can be hied from manager if you do-not have
one), Bag Ice (you can purchase block ice from manager if needing more)
A Crate
with lid for your nonperishables.
All foods can be pre-paid and ordered;
Property management
will send you a grocery list from Coles or Woolworths so you can tick which
Items you need for your stay and a staff member will shop for you and place in
your tent ready for your arrival.
RUBBISH: Please be aware being a primitive
campground all rubbish must be taken home including nappies "DO NOT
throw behind bushes.
Camp site will have recyclable bins available: Bottles, drink cans, glass bottles, plastic/ recyclable bins and a bin for leftovers as we can feed to chooks or compost, Please No fish or meet bones.
Any other rubbish, plastics, packaging, nappies or sanitary napkins please take home with any other garbage you may have (this is a primitive camp site so not all amenities like caravan parks would have are not available sorry)
